In the word of God, fasting and prayer go hand in hand. Just like Jesus told the disciples, I will send you 2 by 2 to go and preach the word of God. There is accountability right there. Fasting and prayer are our accountability for the move of God and the manifestation of God on our behalf.
Biblical meaning for fasting: to help us to get close to God, to give all of ourselves to be open to God’s instructions, direction, and the move of God through the Holy Spirit. It is to help us elevate from glory to glory so our footsteps are ordered and guided according to our all-mighty God. We are to be in alignment with the word that will come together as a formation to become more in tune with our Father in Heaven.
We need to understand what fasting means. Let me break it down. Fasting is not abstinence from food or drink for health, religion, or ethical reasons. It is to get close to your Heavenly Father. This is a relationship builder between you and your Father.
All of us have so many things we want to ask God on a daily basis. We question a lot of things. Do you know what I am talking about? We are like nosey child wanting to know everything before we do it. For example, Why? When? Why should I? The list goes on and on with our curious minds. Like fasting, we want to fast because we truly want to experience God on a whole new level. We need to realize the significance of why we should fast. Our Father is so patient and kind that he loves it when we ask questions. However, sometimes we have to walk by faith, not by sight. This family is what we call blind faith.
Please hear me when I say I know some of us have issues with our health. Some cannot do a full fast, which is okay. That would mean they won’t be able to do it for a week or a month. When we fast, or the Holy Spirit leads us to fast, he will give you the instructions on what you need to cut out or put on pause. He will show you what you normally would do out of being a creature of habit. You will submit whatever it is to the Lord in the time of fasting so you can hear from God and see where he is leading you to go and to do. In everything, we have to start by taking baby steps. We want to make sure that we don’t add more issues to hurt ourselves because we are desperate to do a fast and unable to fulfill the fast that was on our hearts to do in the first place.
In fasting with prayer and supplication, we bring our request to our Father and ask to see what he sees, to do what he wants us to do, and to rearrange something in our lives that is hindering us from moving at a maximum speed. This step brings you closer to God’s mysteries and wonders that he has to show you and prepare you to accomplish. Have you noticed when we decide to fast, crazy things start happening? You see food everywhere, and the devil begins enticing you with goodies, and as soon as you tell someone you are fasting, there is discouragement and temptation to throw you off track.
DO NOT! I REPEAT, DO NOT! Let your left hand know what your right hand is doing. This is a sacred vow between you and your Father in heaven. When you spend time with the Lord in your secret place and give him your undivided attention only, then you will hear his still small voice. As you are being obedient, he will bless you openly. The devil is ready to pounce on you as soon as you begin fasting, which is communing with God.
Don’t be like the Pharisees; when they fasted and prayed, they would look worn down and tired, as if they had spent so much time with God by having a secret backline and were holier and closer to God more than anyone. The sad truth about what the Pharisees did was to bring bondage onto the people. They would show partiality towards the people as though they would never be good enough like they were to know God intimately. They will always fall short before the Glory of God. That is not God’s heart and way of representing God. God tells us, come as you are. He wants humble and meek hearts. The word of God tells us, moreover, do not be like the hypocrites with a sad countenance when you fast, for they disfigure their faces that they may appear to men to be fasting. Assuredly, I say to you; they have their reward. But you, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, so that you do not appear to men to be fasting, but to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly. Matthew 6:16-18.
When you seek a breakthrough in every area of your life, God tells us only through prayer and fasting can these things be answered and manifested. Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them. Mark 11:24.
This is why I urge you to be serious when you come to the Lord during this time of fasting and praying. Family, there is no more time to waste. Our Lord is coming soon, and we must be about our Father’s business.
Be deliberate in everything that you do on behalf of our Lord Jesus. Give all of you at all times. Remember, when you fast and pray it is not always about you. Please get this; we are in warfare for ourselves and our families and others. It is to have more faith for those who don’t have it for themselves YET!!! Your obedience will set the playing ground and the move of God to take over in all things through your fasting and praying. The word of God tells us, but certainly, God has heard me; he has attended to the voice of my prayer. Psalm 66:19.
What we do through our Lord and Savior is for the good of MANKIND.
DROP THE MIC BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
God will give you an answer while you are fasting and praying. It will come in many forms. It can be through a call, text, email, while shopping, through a movie, song, or in the bathroom. This is why you have to be in tune with the Spirit of God so you will see the answers you were waiting for in the spirit realm.
God knows what he is doing at all times. He is and always will be in control. We need to get with his program rather than ours.
Along with fasting and praying, speaking in tongues is also considered to be equally important as well.
Speaking in tongues is a heavenly language between you and your Father. If you cannot voice a prayer, speaking in tongues will prompt the Holy Spirit to groan on your behalf before the throne of God. Whenever we pray, the Holy Spirit is always groaning on our behalf. The Holy Spirit is the one that can eloquently bring our supplications in such a way that our Father will grant our prayers with his grace and mercy through his son Jesus Christ.
I know that some of you cannot speak in tongues yet… Don’t worry……..
If you desire to speak in tongues, you can do it by fasting, praying, and bringing it to the throne of God through the Holy Spirit. Do not give up, do not let the devil tells you that you won’t be able to speak in tongues or you might do it wrong. Whatever God does is perfect. He created you in his image; and likeness, so he will give you the desires of your heart as it aligns with his. He will give it freely if you ask. And these signs will follow those who believe in my name; they will cast out demons and speak with new tongues. Mark 16:17.
In the word of God, he is very precise regarding speaking in tongues.
When we speak in tongues, we also need to ask God to help us to interpret. God tells us in the word that we should not be speaking in tongues loudly if there is no one to interpret. That will lead to confusion, and those who are babies in Christ will be scared and uncomfortable because they will not know what is taking place. Our God is a God of order and not confusion. The word of God tells us when 2 or 3 are gathered together, there should be one that can interpret to bring confirmation or a warning of what God is saying. If anyone speaks in a tongue, let there be 2 or at the most 3, should speak one at a time and someone must interpret. 1 Corinthians 14:27.
You can pray in tongues wherever you are. It can be in your car when you are walking, you feel anxiety, the Holy Spirit led you, or if you are in a situation or circumstance. You can also worship in tongues. When you speak in tongues, you bring heaven into your space to move and shake things on your behalf.
I pray in tongues in everything I am going through and what I believe in what I have brought to his feet and for my family. By faith, I believe that my Father hears me because we are in the family of God through our Lord Jesus. I know that all of our needs will be met according to his riches and glory in Jesus.
You need to realize the power that you hold from heaven. You are a mighty force to be reckoned with. Your Father has given you the formula, which will help you to maneuver what you have asked of him by fasting and praying. I do fasting, praying, and speaking in tongues. I want to be so close to God that he will saturate me with his peace because I have given him authority through this time and all the times to work on my behalf and my family’s behalf.
God’s word tells us, as we fast and pray, strongholds, healing, prosperity, strength, unity, wholeness, rejuvenation, and old bones to come alive again.
Family, you need to know who you are and whose you are. You are the one to bring into submission those things that are not of God to bow down because of who God is in you. With all prayer and supplication in the Spirit being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints. Ephesians 6:18.
