the Trumpet.  Whose sound is it?

In the facet of life, there are 10 different types of trumpets. The Bb Trumpet, the C Trumpet, the D/Eb Trumpet. The Iccolo Trumpet, the Pocket Trumpet, the Natural Trumpet, the Bugle, the Slide Trumpet, the Flugelhorn and the Cornet.

Well there is one Trumpet above all trumpets, and it is the beautiful sound of the Shofar. So the Shofar has 4 sounds:  tekiah is a single blow. It is a long loud blast calling people to attention, shevarim 3 broken blows which sound life crying, teruah 9 or more staccato rings serving as a wakeup call to the new year, and tekiah gedolah a great blast played at the end of the Rosh Hashanah service. It is to be blown a 100 or 101 times on each day of Rosh Hashanah.   It is also used for Yom Kippur.

Shofar represents continuity and a hopeful future. It is also a symbol of honor or strength. In the Old and New Testament, the Shofar can signify an alarm of war, a call to assemble, or a command to march. Numbers 10:1-10. The Shofar is a force. This force is the word of God through his sound coming forth to fulfill the prophesies.   In Ezekiel 33:2-5 says, regarding the watchman and his message. It says, Son of man, speak to the children of your people; and say to them, when he sees the sword coming upon the land, if he blows, the Trumpet and warns the people, then whosoever hearth the sound of the Trumpet, add taketh not warning, if the sword come and take him away, his blood shall be; up his own head, but he that taketh warning shall deliver his soul. So the Shofar is not to be used as an everyday toy to blow on it with no meaning. Shofar symbolizes notification, instructions, alarm, celebration, and war.

In addition to the Horn, the Shofar is associated with health, joy, strength, and prestige. In her prayer, Hanna dedicated her child to God, saying, “My head is lifter,” which means “my horn or Shofar is exalted.” Basically, the voice of God brought forth the answer to Hanna’s prayers. The Horn in Luke 1:63 tells us when Zechariah was mute for a time and tells us that he prophesied the birth of Christ; he called Him the Horn of Salvation. I believe that the Horn is the most important Horn for all humanity. It also tells us that this Horn, the blood of atonement, would be shed once and for all on our behalf. We also see it in Psalm 92:10 when King David wanted to express the prestige he had received from God, he prayed, but you make me as strong as a wild bull, and soothing lotion is poured on me. It can also mean that God lifted the Horn on David. The Shofar of God manifested over David’s as fresh oil or anointing.

Do you realize what God did for us? Do you understand the importance of what God had to do to bring us back to him? How do we take such a thing so lightly, as if it was nothing? When we truly understand who our Shofar is, we need to be on our P’s and Q’s. If you didn’t get it by now, the Shofar is our Lord Jesus. Joel 2:1 tell us that Joel said, blow the Trumpet in Zion; sound the alarm on my holy hill. Let all who live in the land tremble, for the day of the Lord is coming; it is close at hand. Our Lord has a sound like rushing waters. His sound is the Shofar that was, is, and is to come. Our Shofar, who is our Jesus, comes with so many sounds for his people to know that they are guided, instructed, maintained, favored, blessed, promised, loved, and given grace by our Father through his son Jesus.

How long will we be ignorant of his voice that is the Shofar to do what he called us to do? How long will we take God’s word for granted and deal with it nonchalantly as if tomorrow is promised? Do you not know that the hour is at hand and that Jesus is coming soon? We need to hear the Shofar of God very clearly on how we should move, prepare, and be positioned so that he may call on us at any time. God is calling us, he trusts us because, ultimately, he created us for such a time as this. We are to carry out our assignment so that all humanity can turn and come back to him before his son Jesus’ coming.

Hear the Shofar, all ye people. Do you not know that the hour is at hand? Do not test God, for he is not mocked. He is the great I AM. He is the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. He is Alpha and Omega. He is Aleph Tav (Truth). Hear the urgency of the Shofar that has been tugging on your heart. Be true to all things, lest you be judged. Let your yes be yes and your no be no. It is time for action and to be deployed for the Kingdom of God. Sound the Shofar for your people, God to hear you like never before. Wake your people from slumber so your good works may be see and proclaimed. Sound the alarm of the Shofar on the Holy Mountain.  Jesus is coming soon.

1 thought on “the Trumpet.  Whose sound is it?”

  1. What an interesting article. Yes the “horn of my salvation” as mentioned in Psalm 18:2 can mean many different things, but for David it meant that what caused David to have victory in war was only the Most High God. And so it is with us. We can pray warfare prayers, but God blows on the prayer and dispatches angels to bring it to pass. Thank you Father that we develop an ear for your voice.
Great thoughts here! Thank you Anita.
