A warrior’s heart is one of courage despite all odds. You have faced trials and overcome circumstances that have threatened your being. You move forward to keep faith in anything. You have courage when you are working for a cause. There is no time to faint.
There are 7 attributes or characteristics of a warrior:
1. Love is at the core of your actions. Not everyone will always understand your motives. You might even come off as insensitive or intimidating, although you have good intentions. You do what is right even though sometimes you might get it wrong. You are harder on yourself than anyone else. You care about those you love, and you care for. You know that you are doing what you are meant to do.
2. You dare to put your heart on the line. Courage is often associated with habits. Like some form of courage will be unrecognized. It takes courage to be vulnerable, receive affection, and put your heart on the line or wear it on your sleeve. It most certainly takes courage to love.
3. You fiercely protect those you care for, sometimes to your own detriment. You give priority to those you love. You give what you have, even when you don’t have enough. You fight for those who are in need or danger. Your joy comes when you do what you can to help others. If your boundaries are not in place, you will burn out.
4. You do what’s necessary for the greater good. You make hard decisions and take risks at the chance of looking mean. You call out what is bringing bondage to those who need to get help. You are very blunt and bold, and that lead to rocky relations. You do what is right no matter what.
5. You fight for what you believe in. You have a strong belief in justice and being moral. You do what is truly from the heart and not for glory. You always speak the truth no matter what.
6. You’re interested in the truth. You speak only the truth, and you are direct. That lets you know who you can truly trust. You are big on being honest and not fake. You go around and answer if you know it might hurt someone’s feelings. You only make promises if you can keep it. Your word is your bond.
7. Your life is challenging, but nothing keeps you down. You are a fighter, and you overcome trials and obstacles often alone. It takes you some time to bounce back, but you have hope. You always find the strength to move forward.
What is the first thing that comes to mind when I say, warrior? Xena: The warrior princess. Or for others, it would be Wonder Woman. Two figures that display justice, protection and strength.
I always knew that I was a warrior of Jesus Christ. As a child, I was strong-willed. I gave my teacher the run for their money. I knew I as a leader as well. I would get the kids together at school and delegate who would do what. It was a natural reaction. I can’t explain it. In my teens, I constantly stood up for others who were being bullied and picked on. As an adult, I continued protecting and standing up for the voiceless. That, to me, is a warrior’s heart and nature.
A warrior also displays meekness, humility, and submission. You will never hear a pip out of them, but when they have something to say and believe in what they are voicing their opinions about, you better believe that everyone will listen. Their words will not fall to the ground. Praise be to the Lord my Rock, who trains my hands for war, my fingers for battle. He is my loving God and my fortress, my stronghold and; my deliverer, my shield, in who I take refuge, who subdues peoples under me. Psalm 144:1.
Warriors usually are called to be at the forefront of any battle. A force field, if you will. A fence that camps around those who are helpless and voiceless. A perfect example of a warrior is Joan of Arch. She believed God chose her to support the French crown prince Charles of Valois against the English. She was very bold and approached Charles of Valois and told him about her visions and wanting to lead his army. She also promised to see him crowned as the rightful king of France. She took her calling very seriously. The word of God says, be strong and courageous, do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you. He will never leave you nor forsake you. Deuteronomy 31:6. It goes on to say, a wise warrior is better than a strong one, and a man of knowledge than one of strength, for you should wage war with sound guidance; victory comes with many counselors. Proverbs 24:5-6.
Remember that a true warrior is on her knees, seeking direction, guidance, and grace. A warrior is not simply tough, strong, aggressive, self-motivated, and shellfish. A warrior prioritizes God’s goals over any movement on her part for God to show her the route to triumph. Without God’s direction and command, the warrior will fall short and fail to carry out what the warrior was sent to perform in the first place.
