You know in life most of us might say, “I know what love is”.I have experienced it. Some might even say how do you know if you love someone? There are others that would say I have loved, but I was hurt so much that the door of love or even the light of love has dulled. In the word of God the way it describes what love truly is goes back to how God showed his love to us by sending his only son to die for our sins.
Are you ready for the answer?
God spoke love and it came into existence. That love is our Lord Jesus. Love walked, talked, healed, made, cried, laughed, and loved everyone. He gave his love freely.
1 John 4:9 (NKJV)
9 In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him.
This is the unadulterated love of God, he loved us so much that he sent his only son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. (Atone: To provide or serve as reparation or compensation for something bad).
1 Corinthians 13:4-8 (NKJV)
4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.
1 Corinthians 13:13(NIV)
Paul writes to the church in Corinth saying, so now:
13 And now these three remain faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love.
Philippians 4:8(NIV)
God tells us in his word; that whatever is lovely, whatever is noble whatever is just, whatever is pure, if there is virtue, and if there is anything praiseworthy, meditate on these things. So basically, the love of God that was manifest in the form of Jesus is in every good and perfect thing that we can meditate on. Who else would give his life for a friend? That is who we are for our Lord and Savior.
Love: Life of victory every time
In my own experience of love, I was in love with love. I wanted to be in love with someone who would love me the way I wanted to be loved. I wanted to be married so bad that when I had a boyfriend, I would believe with all my heart that he was the one that the Lord sent to me. I know, I know, I was blinded with hearts over my eyes that it was laughable.
It’s interesting how we perceive what love would look like as well as who the ideal person would be to return that same love. This goes for any situation, circumstance, and opportunity in our lives. I know that some of you truly want to love with all your heart, and you want to receive that same love in return. The truth of the matter is if you don’t submit to God as your Father and your husband (Isaiah 54:5), you will never be able to experience true love. Our Lord God molds us, chisels all of our unnecessary thick-headedness, hardness, and our own ways of thinking and doing. He is a jealous God. He wants to have you to himself because he created you and he wants all of your attention to be towards him. Yes, I know that here on Earth we struggle and we lose sight of what the truth is, who truly is for us, and who loves us unconditionally. That is God’s jealousy.
The word of God tells us first to seek the kingdom of heaven and its righteousness and all these things shall be added onto us. (Matthew 6:33)
but he knows the way that I take it. When he has tested me, I will come forth as gold. (Job 23:10) It all comes together like this; everything that God has placed in you to desire has to line up with his desires which he placed in you before the foundation of the world. Even in your mother’s womb to come forth and manifest in due season. He will bring it to pass because that is God’s nature and promises to you. The word of God tells us that, he is not a man that he should lie, nor a son of man that he should repent. Numbers 23:19
The word of God tells us to delight ourselves in the Lord, and he shall give you the desires of your heart Psalms 37:4.
Closing Prayer:
I pray in the mighty name of Jesus that we will be so filled with the spirit of love that no matter the situation and circumstances, we develop with the help of the Holy Spirit to represent love just like our Lord Jesus did. He walked the love, and he showed us the language of love by sacrificing himself so that we will be freed by his love. Thank you Father for your love, kindness, and grace over our spirit man and for sending your beautiful son to be the way for our new beginning, middle, and our eternal life. In Jesus’ name, amen.
